Just a few statistics that I found pertinent for the readership regarding Domestic Violence (Intimate Partner Violence) earlier today. These statistics showed up in an article written by Doug Harlow in the Kennebec Journal in Maine. The entire article has some other interesting things in it, including discussion of the WeTV show "Secret Lives of Women" which had some incredibly disturbing stories listed. However, onward to the statistics. (Kennebec Journal; Domestic Vilence: Men are victims of abuse, too; February 22, 2009; Orig.)
An estimated 1.5 million women and 835,000 men are the victims of domestic violence each year.
"For 30 years, we've giving women more rights than men," Brown said in a recent interview at her rural home. "That's what has developed over the last 30 years; the pendulum has swung way too far."

"It's astounding how few services are available for men all over this country. They're almost nonexistent."
"Thirty to 35 percent of all victims are men. That comes from a study in 2000 by the Department of Justice that said that 835,000 men are physically assaulted annually by their intimate partners."

Apparently people would rather kill each other than head towards divorce in today's family court arena. Sometimes estranged spouses dual to death before and after divorces and child custody disputes that are congesting our court system. See the frequently updated article that I previously wrote called Family Court is Deadly Business. The link below varies from the normal, so it will not be added, but this is worth examining.
The complete article can be seen at AZCENTRAL.COM and is titled "Gilbert Woman is Charged in Beating Death of Husband" on February 22, 2009. (Orig. Source)
Where is the Violence Against Men Act in this case? Why are there special interest laws at all tied to gender, when we already have uniform assault and homicide laws? But you can see where the defense is going to automatically come out that she was justified because she is now alleging that she was the victim in the article.
Dale E. Harrell, 34, survived nearly four weeks after undergoing surgery to remove part of his brain following a 2:45 a.m. Jan. 14 attack
"By Marissa's own statement, she would have continued to assault with the hammer if not stopped by a third party," an investigating officer wrote.
Records show Devault was booked in January for attempted homicide but released. Harrell, whose right side of his skull was shattered into "multiple puzzle pieces," died Feb. 9. Devault was charged Friday with one count of homicide.
Gilbert police declined to comment on the case, but a heavily redacted 131-page report that states Devault and Harrell were having marital problems and heading toward divorce.
I am sure there is going to be more to the story, but it boils down to people are killing each other rather than going through divorces these days. That says something about our family court system. One thing is for sure, divorces and separations are going to increase in todays horrible economy, so we can gamble that suicide and homicide as a result of these cases will increase as well.
RADAR: Respecting Accuracy in Domestic Abuse Reporting. Despite the best of intentions, our nation's effort to curb domestic violence is not working. Current solutions not only fail to reduce domestic violence, but also create other severe problems. Families are being undermined and children harmed. Innocent Americans are penalized based on false accusations. And victims of violence are re-victimized by a rigid system that ignores their wishes, or excludes them altogether.
Alan Karmin joined host Lary Holland on Get Your Justice Live on October 1, 2008 to discuss Domestic Violence Awareness Month, RADAR, raising the evidentiary standards on Personal Protection Orders, and many other necessary changes to the Domestic Violence Programs in the United States.

On Get Your Justice Live: 3/26/2008 Special Report: Congressional Guidelines For Abusing Women? Members of the True Equality Network will be joining Get Your Justice Live Host Lary Holland to discuss their recent public report covering the abuse of women in domestic violence shelters. True Equality Network was formed to educate the general public and our nation's law makers of the failures of numerous federal programs and of the abuses of federal funding systems effecting the sovereignty of the American family.
Our public report covering our abuse shelter investigations is getting broad distribution. We have already done the first of nine scheduled shows. Last Friday, March 21st, we were on the “The Chuck Baker Show,” KWYD 1580 AM in Colorado Springs CO along with Dr. Charles E. Corry of the Equal Justice Foundation.
Since the adaptation of welfare reform and the passage the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), the social policies and civil liberties of the United States have collapsed with regard to family law, causing our legislatures and courts to become the shills of radical ideologues.
This report is a blunt exposé of how women are being physically and emotionally abused and forced into sexual servitude by shelter workers in order to be permitted to stay in the shelter. This report contains links to candid video testimony by victims of abuse who experienced even greater abuse at the hands of the shelter staff.
The report contains content and links that are not suitable for children and younger teen readers.
A great deal more findings exist than this public version of the report discloses. Those omitted details have been reported to the United States Congress and applicable law enforcement agencies. We have been advised by those agencies and our legal counsel not to disclose the names of the shelters we infiltrated and investigated, which states they are in, or the names of specific individual perpetrators.
Note that VAWA was enacted supported by studies, abet based on false and fabricated statistics, using samples sets of 5 to 15 thousand. There were over 1.5 million TRO’s issued by the states annually prior to VAWA. That is sample sets ranging from .33% to 1.00% of the cases.
There are approximately 18,000 shelters in the US, we investigated 417 of them to date, and that is 2.31% of them. By years end we will have completed the investigation, which will have then infiltrated and investigated 1,200 shelters or 6.67% of them. Even at one third of the way completed, our investigation is already using a sample set twice of what the largest study VAWA used to justify spending billions of tax-dollars to abuse and rape women.
Our women either paid the per diem charges to stay at the shelter as residents or donated the equivalent amount under fake names to the shelter where they stayed. The True Equality women who were employed at the shelters donated their entire paycheck (under fake names) adding the funds needed to equal their gross pay from the shelter. Thus, we did not use once cent of tax dollars to conduct this investigation.
Although we thank the major corporations and individuals for their generous donations to the shelters, we must warn them that unknown to them they are helping to fund the abuse and rape of women. We advise them to look closely at what their generosity is being used for, noting our investigation reveals that many of the shelters are doing anything but protecting women from abuse, providing training and helping them escape from eternal victimhood. In fact, many of the women we interviewed during this investigation returned to their abusive relationships because they felt safer there. As example one women conveyed to us that, "At least while I was at home the neighbors could hear me screaming. Here, even the social workers are abusing me."
The message women are getting from the shelter's staffs is;
"There is a very simple trick, used all too frequently in family courts, that will almost always ensure the immediate elimination of a man's constitutional rights. Read more to find out if it can happen to you."
In acrimonious divorce and child custody disputes emotions are tense and tempers flare. Buoyed by litigious attorneys, each side engages in strategic maneuvers to gain the greatest legal advantage. Sometimes a parent, fearing a loss of control or custody over a child, crosses the ethically acceptable bounds of legal warfare. An unfortunate but all too frequently used tactic by mothers is to accuse the father of sexually molesting their child. The mere accusation is sufficient to strip the father of all his custody rights and launch a criminal investigation. Even when no evidence is found to substantiate the allegation, family law courts typically "err on the side of caution" and award full custody to the mother. While national statistics reveal that the majority of all child sex abuse reports are legitimate, when such claims are made by a mother in the context of custody litigation, an estimated 77% of allegations are determined to be unfounded (Tong, 2002).A false child sex abuse allegation made during child custody litigation is a destructive legal stratagem.
The article in its' complete form can be found at the NolanChart.Com under Constitutional Issues. I would encourage each and every one of you to print a copy of the article and send it to your legislators, public officials, yahoo groups, and advocacy leaders. Be sure to comment on the article and let authors know you support further research on these issues.
A very good resource for domestic violence research is Media RADAR where
R.A.D.A.R. stands for – Respecting Accuracy in Domestic Abuse Reporting
– is a non-profit, non-partisan organization of men and women
working to improve the effectiveness of our nation's approach to
solving domestic violence.

If you haven't had a chance to visit the Media RADAR website, get over to the site and print off some of the easy to read flyers and circulate them to your legislators as well. Let our government officials know the truth and intention behind the Domestic Violence Laws, VAWA, and False Domestic Relations Restraining Orders.
It takes two fit, willing, and caring parents to create and raise a well-balanced child. Make sure our laws reflect that position.

Special interests are routinely effective because they are often funded by larger organizations and take mass action with the media.
In an effort to help educate and fight against special interest propaganda we must be willing to present both sides of the spectrum on any important issue or risk not being properly represented in our government. Individuals that disagree with current or proposed public policy often make the mistake to sit idly and fail to represent their families and communities.
Every interested person should take one or two of these flyers and pass them to any reporter or politician that reports or takes up the issues discussed to ensure adequate and unbiased presentations to the public at large.
Often times inviduals are overwhelmed and believe their voice cannot make a difference in the public policies of our government. Your fear is only true if you choose to not use your voice and fail to join or assist other groups that represent YOUR concerns.
Another domestic violence shelter acknowledges that DV occurs to both genders. If you are in the Lansing, Michigan area, there is help available in the 517 area code. If you need non-residential services, End Violent Encounters (EVE) provides various services. Below is their letter to the editor that was published in the Lansing Journal.
Help's available
The Michigan Uniform Crime Report indicates 14,936 males were victims of domestic violence in 2005. EVE, Inc. (End Violent Encounters) provides crisis line support (372-5572), counseling, advocacy, and personal protection order assistance to male victims of domestic violence.
Due to the physical space of our shelter, we cannot offer shelter services to men.
However, male victims of domestic violence can receive support through EVE, Inc.'s non-residential program and we will work with male victims to find a safe place to stay.
Males accounted for 4 percent of individuals seeking EVE's non-residential services and crisis hot line support during 2006-07. For more information about EVE, Inc.'s services for victims, please call 372-5572.
